A father on TikTok gained widespread attention after sharing a video showing how he calms his crying baby in a matter of seconds.

The clip, posted by a creator known as Tuque Daddy, begins with him holding his two-month-old son while the baby cries. Remaining calm, he then demonstrates a soothing method step by step while speaking softly to the child.

The technique involves gently crossing the baby’s arms across the chest, supporting the child from underneath, leaning him slightly forward, and slowly rocking him.

Within seconds, the baby stops crying and becomes noticeably calmer.

The video quickly spread online, drawing millions of views and thousands of comments from parents and non-parents alike. Many viewers said they saved the video to try the technique themselves in the future.

Although the clip introduced many people to the method for the first time, the technique itself was originally popularized years earlier by pediatrician Robert Hamilton, who refers to it as “The Hold.”

Hamilton previously explained that the method works because it recreates a position that feels familiar and comforting to infants, similar to how they are positioned in the womb.

According to him, the technique is most effective for babies under three months old and is generally intended for infants who are simply fussy rather than sick or hungry.

For many viewers, though, the appeal of the video came less from the explanation and more from the speed of the result, and the calm reaction from both father and son once the crying stopped.
