Years before many of his recent appearances, Jamie Foxx was involved in a real-life rescue near his home in Southern California.

The incident took place in Ventura County, where a truck left the road, rolled over multiple times, and caught fire. The driver, 32-year-old Brett Kyle, was trapped inside the vehicle.
Foxx said he heard the crash from his house, called 911, and ran to the scene.

An off-duty paramedic who was driving by also stopped to help. According to Foxx, the paramedic used a tool to break the window and cut the driver’s seatbelt.
The two were able to pull Kyle from the vehicle shortly before it became fully engulfed in flames.

Foxx later said he did not view the situation as heroic, describing it as something that required an immediate response.
Kyle sustained injuries including broken bones and a punctured lung but was expected to survive.

His father later said he had seen footage of the crash and noted that several cars had passed by before anyone stopped to help.
Authorities said two witnesses assisted in removing the driver from the vehicle, though they did not formally confirm Foxx’s involvement.
The moment was widely reported at the time, adding an off-screen chapter to Foxx’s career.
