K-9 Bullet, a police dog with the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, is undergoing treatment at an emergency veterinary clinic after being struck during an officer-involved shooting in Morgan County, Indiana on December 8, 2025.
Bullet is partners with Deputy David Tolan and has lived with the deputy and his wife for 3 years, according to Fox59's Angela Ganote.

Deputies were dispatched after the homeowner told 911 operators that he saw an unknown individual inside the residence on security cameras. The Sheriff’s Office said Bullet was deployed after deputies encountered a man who had forced his way into a home on Belt Lane. The man refused commands to come out or show his hands.
Officials report that the man then picked up a pair of large tree-cutting loppers used for trimming branches and struck the K-9, knocking him unconscious.
Deputies used both gunfire and bean bag rounds to stop the suspect. Emergency care was provided at the scene to the suspect and to K-9 Bullet. The suspect was flown to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and remains in stable condition.

Law enforcement officials said the name of the suspect is not being released at this time because investigators are still confirming his identity. Deputies involved in the incident have been placed on administrative leave under standard department procedures.
In a statement, Morgan County Sheriff Richard W. Myers said, "These dogs, they save officers’ lives every day."
The Morgan County Prosecutor's Office will review the case and decide whether any charges are appropriate. Officials said any charges would be allegations and that the suspect is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
The Sheriff’s Office has two police dogs. K-9 Bullet is expected to make a speedy recovery.
