It started with a long first date.

When Gabourey Sidibe and Brandon Frankel met on a dating app, they ended up talking for seven hours. Not because they planned to, but because the conversation kept going. By the end of the night, it was clear they had something worth pursuing.

A few months later, Brandon proposed in November 2020. By March 2021, they were married.

From early on, their relationship stood out for how open and relaxed it felt. They shared everyday moments online. Matching outfits, small celebrations, and inside jokes. Nothing overly curated. Just consistent, visible support for each other.

Brandon has spent years working behind the scenes in the entertainment industry. Even so, he has never been quiet about how he feels about his wife. At one point, he got Gabourey’s name tattooed on his thigh. He explained it simply. He loves his wife and wanted something permanent to reflect that.

In April 2024, their lives changed again.

They welcomed twins, a boy and a girl, named Cooper and Maya. The names carried personal meaning. Maya was inspired by a trip they took together. Cooper was a name Brandon had liked for years. The twins were also given West African middle names to honor Gabourey’s family background.

Gabourey has spoken before about wanting a big family. Now, with two children and a supportive partner, that part of her life is starting to take shape.

Like many couples in the public eye, they have dealt with outside opinions and criticism. But their dynamic has stayed consistent. They show up for each other, publicly and privately, without trying to overexplain it.

There is no single moment that defines their relationship.

Just a series of decisions. Meeting. Staying. Building a life together.
